Job Description

Having moved into our new 92-bed psychiatric hospital, Peak View Behavioral Health in Colorado Springs, CO is recruiting an energetic, enthusiastic, creative and compassionate Recreation Therapist. Under the clinical supervision of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, will plan and/or implement a variety of therapeutic recreational activities.  In support of the individualized treatment plan, recreational outlets will aim to improve each patients psychosocial, physical and cognitive functioning level.

The new facility offers access to bright and inviting dayrooms, classrooms, spacious courtyards, dining facilities, recreation room and a gymnasium. The physical space, available medias and equipment allows the selected candidate expansive choices and options for evolving a creative "second-to-none" therapeutic program. Additionally, the Recreational Therapist is an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Our current patient population includes adult and geriatrics services, with adolescent services planned for January, 2013.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will possess a bachelors degree in recreational therapy, and one to three years paid behavioral health experience. Preference will be given to applicants with either inpatient or residential treatment experience, and demonstrated commitment to the field. Peak View can offer support to those seeking certification along with other continuing development opportunities.

Licensure:  CTRS preferred

Shift Available: 

Days, evening, weekends, some holidays
